Course Objectives The main objective of this course is to establish a cross-cultural understanding of worlds' religions. A special attention will be paid to religions within the diverse and global changing world. The students will be taught to: understand the importance of religion in relation to their society, culture and history; globalization and religion; gender and religion; science and religion; interfaith dialogue; and sociology and psychology of religion.

Learning Outcomes After successful  completion of the course, the student will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate understanding of major world religions.
  2. Use cross-cultural religious themes as to promote religious understanding and dialogue.
  3. Differentiate an academic and scholarly versus missionary study and interpretation of religion.
  4. Recognize the significance of religions as inevitable for shaping our society, culture, and institutions.
  5. Define methods and approaches to the study of religions.
