Course Objectives This first, broad survey course aims to familiarize students with the history of the arts in Western and some non-Western cultures. It aims to develop student skills in observation, analysis and interpretation of historical forms and cultural layers.
Textbook Art History, Marilyn Stokstad, vol. I, (1-559 p.). Additional bibliography to be introduced during classes.

Learning Outcomes After successful  completion of the course, the student will be able to:
  1. Recognize style of periods from Antiquity through the middle Ages.
  2. Identify authors and artworks.
  3. Analyze and discuss major works of art from Antiquity through the middle Ages
