FENS Talks: Guest Lecture on Host Security Fundamentals and Hardening Strategies

On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, the IT-related programs (CSE, SE, AIDE) at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (FENS), International University of Sarajevo, organized a guest lecture titled "Host Security Fundamentals and Hardening Strategies" as part of the FENS Talks series.

Mr. Muris Čeljo, CEO of Kodeks d.o.o., joined Dr. Amal Mersni, the CS427 course holder, delivering a session on endpoint protection shaped by his hands-on experience deploying security solutions across organizations in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The lecture approached host security through a practitioner lens, examining how organizations harden individual devices against threats that bypass the network perimeter entirely. The session examined the four pillars of host security: OS hardening, endpoint defense, access control, and audit and logging, with each pillar illustrated through scenarios drawn from Mr. Čeljo's experience in the field.

FENS, thanks Mr. Muris Čeljo and Kodeks d.o.o. for their continued partnership with the International University of Sarajevo.
